On her inaugural lecture series, MPP Wynne welcomed Dr. Nasreen Khatri from Rotman Research Institute for a fascinating talk on brain health and maintaining cognitive health throughout adulthood. This interactive lecture which was moderated by MPP Kathleen Wynne at Finnish Canadian Seniors Center, brought together the community to engage in a critical conversation about the correlation between aging and cognitive capacity.
Dr. Nasreen Khatri is an award-winning registered clinical psychologist, gerontologist, neuroscientist and educator who specializes in depression and anxiety in older adults.
Since 2012, Dr, Khatri has been at the Rotman Research Institute, where she studies how depression impacts the aging brain, the neural link between depression in mid-life and the subsequent onset of dementia and innovates non-drug treatments for depression and anxiety in older adults, such as cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and exercise.
